The Mexican
Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) has officially unveiled its new Airbus
Helicopters AS 565MBe Panther and Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters.
The
announcement came during a 13 March ceremony at the Coatzacoalcos Naval Air
Base, Veracruz, home to Naval Air Squadrons (ESCAN) 123 and 124 that operate
the AS 565MB/MBe and UH-60M helictopers, respectively.
Mexico's
naval secretary, Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberón Sanz, said at the event that
about 56 of 63 aircraft to be procured for the navy during the 2013-18 period
have been ordered.
SEMAR said it
has received four AS 565MBe aircraft, the last two of which were delivered in
France in December 2016 and recently arrived in Mexico.
