Zelenodolsk shipyard to lay down sixth Project 22160 patrol ship for Navy

On 13 January, the Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant named after Maksim Gorky (Republic of Tatarstan) will hold a solemn keel-laying ceremony for Project 22160 patrol ship. She is the sixth in succession and fifth in the series.

Project 22160 patrol ships are designed by the JSC Northern Design Bureau (St. Petersburg) to protect and guard the sea economic area, and in the event of hostilities they are to ensure the stability of naval forces and facilities during defending stationing sites.

These patrol ships are also capable of escorting and counter-piracy activity, performing search-and-rescue functions.

Cruising endurance of ships of this project is 60 days. They are able to develop a speed of 30 knots, have a displacement of up to 1,700 tons; a crew is 80 people strong. The cruising range is 6,000 nautical miles.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, such ships will certainly enhance the potential of our all-arms groupings operating in various areas.
