Report: Sikorsky Expects Production OK for Air Force Combat Rescue Helicopter Next Week – GovCon Wire:
Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary and the U.S. Air Force expect to complete the milestone C decision process for a new combat rescue helicopter platform by Sept. 24, FlightGlobal reported Thursday.
The report said Sikorsky could receive a potential $500 million low-rate initial production contract to build 10 HH-60W CRHs shortly after receiving the green light and deliver the first unit by April 2022. HH-60W is derived from the HH-60M Black Hawk and intended to replace the Air Force’s HH-60G Pave Hawk fleet.
Sikorsky produced multiple pre-production units of the new helicopter under a $1.2 billion design and development contract from the service branch. The aircraft has logged over 135 flight hours since its debut flight in May.
