BGOV: Lockheed F-16, Raytheon Missile Tech In Demand Among Fiscal 2019 FMS Clients – GovCon Wire


The Raytheon-built (NYSE: RTN) AIM-120C-7 medium air-to-air missile and the F-16 fighter jet from Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) were the most popular weapon systems the U.S. sold to allies in fiscal year 2019 through the foreign military sales program, Bloomberg Government reported Wednesday.

The missile sale accounted for approximately $2B of the $56.2B announced FMS in 2019, according to data compiled by BGOV. Sales of the air-to-air missile were made to Qatar, Australia, Japan, Hungary and Bahrain.

Announced international sales of F-16s in fiscal 2019 reached $14.5B. Taiwan proposed to procure 66 units of the F-16V variant valued at approximately $8B, while Morocco and Bulgaria completed the F-16 orders for 2019.

The Asia-Pacific region ranked first when it comes to U.S. weapons procurement in FY 2019 at about $21B, followed by the Middle East at approximately $19.7B and Europe at $15.4B.
