This enhances the maintenance and availability of the naval fleet.

Indra and the Spanish Navy’s Data Monitoring and Analysis Center (CESADAR) are involved in the solution’s development process.

This technology is said to be one of the first solutions that use ‘unsupervised’ AI. So far, the feature has never been used in a practical situation.

In a statement, Indra stated that this kind of AI learns to identify the problems, following which it applies logical operations to reach a solution on its own, without the need for human assistance.

In the Soprene Project, engineers at Indra taught the system to comprehend the working of the F100 frigates and Offshore Patrol Vessels BAM engines.

This provided an extensive amount of detail and precision.

The system was then able to detect abnormalities in normal operations and projected the engine trouble and malfunctions experienced by the vessels over the past five years.
Indra used the data stored by the CESADAR to carry out the tests and validate the results.

The system can obtain results that are not predefined or known which allows it to learn from the success and failure which helps it achieve better efficiency and speed.

It is also a universal system and can be modified to monitor other systems on vessels or in other defence or civilian fields.

Additionally, Indra stated that the system can identify serious engine failures.

In July, Indra was contracted to integrate advanced sensors on the Spanish Navy’s future F110 class frigates.
