MOSCOW, 5 April. /TASS/. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Defense showed footage of the destruction of the Ukrainian drone of Turkish production Bayraktar by the crew of the tactical anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) "Tor".
"In the process of combat duty, 20 air targets were detected. As a result of competent actions of the crew of the Tor air defense system, all targets were taken for escort and destroyed. Among them, seven Bayraktar combat unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
It is noted that during the special military operation, the crew of the Tor anti-aircraft missile system, commanded by Sergei Pachepka, performs the tasks of controlling the airspace in its area of responsibility, covers the units of the Russian Armed Forces during the special military operation in Ukraine.
The Tor air defense system can withstand a whole swarm of drones. The complex is designed to cover the first echelons of ground formations from attacks by anti-radar and cruise missiles, gliding bombs, aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles. At the same time, "Thor" can itself control the designated airspace and independently shoot down all air targets that are not identified by the "friend or foe" system. The complex includes 16 vertical-launch anti-aircraft missiles with a range of up to 12 km and an altitude range of up to 10 km.
