A promising anti-aircraft missile and artillery system (ZRAK) "Pantsir-M", installed on board the small missile ship "Odintsovo", passed the first tests at sea. During the firing, the complex destroyed all training targets, which were used as small-sized air targets M-6.

According to the Izvestia newspaper, the tests were used to repel a massive air raid, as well as attacks using cruise missiles. The complex has demonstrated the ability to fire at the target several times - with missiles at long and medium range, then with cannons at a small distance, which increases the likelihood of destroying a missile, drone or aircraft attacking the ship.

MRK "Odintsovo" - the third ship of project 22800, and the first in this project, equipped with the latest air defense system. It is currently undergoing trials, and by the end of the year should be entered into the fleet. According to the newspaper, he will serve in the 1st Guards Division of the 36th brigade of missile boats of the Baltic Fleet. His ships are in the naval base in Baltiysk (Kaliningrad region). The first ships of this project - "Mytishchi" and "Sovetsk" are already serving there.

ZRAK "Pantsir-M" includes two six-barreled 30-mm automatic cannons GSh-6-30 with rotating barrels, mounted in a single complex with two quad launchers of anti-aircraft guided missiles. In addition, 32 more anti-aircraft missiles are in the ammunition cellar under the deck of the ship.

The complex is a short-range / close-range defense system and the last line, it can fire at targets at a distance of 20 kilometers to several tens of meters. On small ships, this complex should play the role of the main air defense system, and on large ships it should be used as a "second echelon", complementing medium and long-range anti-aircraft missile systems.

The export modification of the Pantsir-ME complex was demonstrated at the international naval show in St. Petersburg. The developer and manufacturer of all modifications of the Pantsir, both sea and land, is NPO High-Precision Complexes, which is part of the Rostec State Corporation.

In June 2020, the media reported on the demonstration at the Victory Day parade of  yet another newest modification of the Pantsir family - the Pantsir-SM ground mobile anti-aircraft missile and gun system. It is distinguished by a changed composition of anti-aircraft missile weapons - carrying 10 extended-range missiles and two blocks with four small-sized melee missiles, as well as lighter 2A38M guns than the naval version.
