On the basis of the UH-60 "Black Hawk" helicopter, aeronautical scientists and technicians have worked hard for more than 30 years, and finally learned the UH-60 "Black Hawk" technology. On this basis, the localized Zhi-20 helicopter was successfully developed. The use of a new turboshaft-10 engine, its maximum output power is reported to have reached 1600KW, so that Zhi-20 has the ability to fly to the plateau.

The turboshaft-10 engine has surpassed the turboshaft-9 of the Z-10 gunship in terms of technical level, material level, and craftsmanship, and the latest T700-GE-701D engine adopted by the UH-60 "Black Hawk" helicopter. It is similar, but the power is about 100KW larger, which is a very remarkable achievement for Chinese aviation people.


Previously, this 10-ton Z-20 helicopter carried out a very harsh demonstration flight on the plateau. Under high-altitude weather conditions, it was proved to be able to carry at least 5 tons of materials, surpassing the meter introduced from Russia. The 17V5 has a capacity of about 3 tons.

Now, Zhi-20 has begun to gradually equip the army aviation units stationed in the plateau areas, which has strongly supported our military operations in the plateau areas and guaranteed the logistics supply of military stations and checkpoints with inconvenient road traffic.


The supply of materials to combat units in these remote areas has always caused the military to feel very headaches. The poor logistics support has seriously affected the life support of combat units. When the mountains are blocked by heavy snow in winter, border defense patrols in high-altitude areas above 4000 meters in the western border areas. For combat and other units, logistical support has to rely on people in the rear on horseback, etc. The conditions are very difficult and difficult.


With the Zhi-20, for the 5,000-meter high altitude zone, where conditions are very difficult, border soldiers can sit in the Zhi-20 helicopter to perform border patrol tasks. This not only improves efficiency, but also makes people safer.

The Zhi-20 helicopters are now gradually being able to fly onto the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in an established area, which will greatly improve the capabilities of our army aviation forces in the plateau areas, including transportation, search, and rescue.
