“Russian aviation is successfully using modernized Su-25SM3 aircraft in the military operation in Ukraine. They are equipped with the Vitebsk-25 electronic warfare system, which is able to protect them from enemy MANPADS missile attacks,” the agency’s interlocutors said .
This modification of the attack aircraft is used mainly in the southern direction and in the Donbass, said in the power structures. The Vitebsk complexes, according to them, placed in hanging containers on the suspension units of the Su-25SM3 aircraft, show high performance and, on the whole, quite successfully cope with their tasks. They are also installed on Ka-52 and Mi-8 family helicopters.
"They were successfully used by the Russian military in Syria. And then not a single helicopter with Vitebsk was hit by MANPADS missiles fired by terrorists," they recalled.
