MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. The Sukhoi Company (part of the United Aircraft Corporation, UAC) has manufactured the last batch of Su-34 fighter-bombers under a long-term contract with Russia’s Defense Ministry, the UAC press office announced on Wednesday.

"The Sukhoi Company (within the United Aircraft Corporation of the State Corporation Rostec) has completed the fulfillment of the next long-term contract for the delivery of a batch of Su-34 fighter-bombers to Russia’s Defense Ministry," the statement reads.

The last fighter-bomber of the final batch has been manufactured at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Enterprise (a branch of the Sukhoi Company) and has passed trials, it said.

About a hundred Su-34 fighter-bombers have been manufactured under the long-term contract with the Defense Ministry, United Aircraft Corporation and Sukhoi Company CEO Yuri Slyusar was quoted by the press office as saying.

"At the same time, we have started implementing new contracts signed at the Army forum that have helped utilize the capacities of our enterprises and provide work for our personnel in several regions of the country," Slyusar said.

In particular, Slyusar announced at the Army-2020 international arms show that a new contract for Su-34 fighter-bombers had been signed. The aircraft with expanded combat capabilities are set to be assembled at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Enterprise.

"The Novosibirsk Enterprise of the Sukhoi Company is today one of the largest aircraft-building facilities within the United Aircraft Corporation. The manufacture of Su-34 planes and their versions with expanded combat capabilities provides for stable utilization of the factory’s capacities over a long term," the UAC press office said.

A source in the domestic defense industry earlier told TASS that Russia’s Defense Ministry and the Sukhoi Company had signed a contract in early June 2020 on the delivery of about 20 Su-34 frontline bombers. The contract stipulated the manufacture of the baseline version with certain alterations, taking into account the bombers’ operation in the troops. Russia is simultaneously developing a heavily upgraded version of the Su-34M fighter-bomber. A contract on the aircraft’s manufacture is due to be inked in 2021.

The Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber is designated to effectively strike enemy ground and air targets day and night in any weather conditions.

The Su-34 carries long-range air-to-surface and air-to-air missile armament with the multi-channel employment capability. The Su-34 has an operating range of 4,000 km, can develop a maximum speed of 1,900 km/h and is capable of carrying a weapon payload of up to 8 tonnes. The Su-34 is half as noisy as earlier models.

VLADIVOSTOK, December 2. /TASS/. The Project 20380 latest corvette Aldar Tsydenzhapov built for Russia’s Pacific Fleet delivered artillery fire against coastal targets and checked its air defense weapons during state trials in the Sea of Japan, the Fleet’s press office reported on Wednesday.

"At the combat training range near Zheltukhin Island, the ship conducted artillery fire to suppress invisible coastal targets hidden by the terrain, eliminating the targets simulating a notional enemy’s sheltered fire emplacements and combat hardware, and visible targets on the coastline. The fire was delivered from a 100mm A-190 multi-purpose shipborne artillery gun," the press office said in a statement.

Also, pilots of Russia’s Aerospace Force earlier checked the reliability of the operation of the latest ship’s systems in the Sea of Japan. At this stage of the state trials, three Tu-22M3 strategic missile-carrying bombers and Su-35 fighter jets of the fighter aviation regiment from the Eastern Military District’s Air Force and Air Defense Army attacked the corvette from various altitudes and directions, the statement says.

The aircraft employed passive jamming and carried out measures to suppress the ship’s radio-technical and communications systems. In the course of joint operations, the groupings of the Navy and the Aerospace Force were sharpening the skills of multi-service force inter-operability, the press office said.

The Project 20380 third corvette Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov developed by the Almaz Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering (St. Petersburg) is designed to accomplish green-water missions, fight enemy surface ships and submarines and provide artillery support for amphibious assault operations.

The corvette incorporates the latest solutions for reducing its physical fields. In particular, the shipbuilders significantly reduced its radar signature during its construction, using radio absorption materials and specially designing the ship’s hull and superstructure.

Project 20380 ships are armed with multi-purpose artillery guns, surface-to-air missile/artillery systems, supersonic missiles and automatic artillery launchers. The Project 20380 corvettes can carry a Ka-27 helicopter. They displace 2,200 tonnes and have a crew of 99.

The corvette Aldar Tsydenzhapov is set to be accepted for service in Russia’s Pacific Fleet until the end of this year.

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – U.S. Air Force electronic warfare (EW) experts are ready to enable the F-35A joint strike fighter to attack and destroy enemy air-defense radar installations.

Officials of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., announced a $9.3 million contract last week to the Lockheed Martin Corp. Aeronautics segment in Fort Worth, Texas, to integrate the U.S. Navy Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile-Extended Range (AARGM-ER) into the F-35.

The AGM-88G AARGM-ER is a new and advanced radar-killing missile designed to enable U.S. jet fighter-bombers suppress enemy air defenses preceding bomber attacks.

Fitting the AARGM-ER to the Air Force version of the F-35 will enable the aircraft to join the Navy EA-18G Growler carrier-based electronic warfare jet in carrying out air-defense radar suppression missions.

The AARGM-ER is an advanced and extended-range version of the High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM). It is a new variant of the AGM-88E missile that equips Navy carrier-based fighter-bombers and electronic warfare jets. HARM was a replacement for the AGM-45 Shrike anti-radiation missile, which was in service from 1965 to 1992.

AARGM is a supersonic, medium-range, air-launched tactical missile compatible with U.S. and allied strike aircraft. The AARGM-ER missile features several upgrades to the AGM-88E that focus on extending the weapon's operational range and survivability.

The AARGM-ER replaces the missile's rocket motor and tail to increase its range, while keeping the sensors and electronics of the AARGM-88E, which are being upgraded in a separate project. The AARGM-ER missile is scheduled to achieve initial operating capability (IOC) and start being fielded to Navy squadrons in 2023.

AARGM provides the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Italian air force, and now the U.S. Air Force with a weapon system for engaging and destroying enemy air defenses and time-critical, mobile targets. The AARGM also has precise Global Positioning System (GPS)/inertial navigation system (INS) guidance and network-centric connectivity.

The AARGM offers advanced signal processing and improved frequency coverage, detection range, and field of view, compared to earlier versions of the HARM system. It has time-critical standoff strike with supersonic GPS/INS point-to-point or point-to-millimeter-wave-terminal guidance.

It also has missile impact zone control to prevent collateral damage through tightly coupled, digital terrain elevation database-aided GPS/INS, as well as counter-emitter shutdown through active millimeter-wave-radar terminal guidance.

The F-35 with its advanced avionics is a fifth-generation single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole jet fighter-bomber designed to perform ground attack, aerial reconnaissance, and air defense missions. It is one of the most advanced combat jets in the world.
