What are the advantages of the Su-34 tactical bomber - Russian newspaper

In June, the Ministry of Defense will receive four more Su-34 front-line bombers. This will be the last batch of aircraft produced at the Novosibirsk plant for the Russian Aerospace Forces under a contract concluded in 2012. We recall that it provides for the release of a total of 92 of the latest tactical aviation systems.
Earlier, under another contract, the military received 32 such bombers. It is planned that soon the Ministry of Defense will order another 76 aircraft, but already in a modernized version of the Su-34M. In particular, new electronic warfare equipment will be installed on this machine, it will be equipped with more powerful weapons. In total, according to some reports, the requirements of the airborne forces for tactical bombers of this type are estimated at two hundred machines.
The interest of the military in the Su-34 is largely due to the good combat and maneuverability capabilities that the machine showed during the fighting in Syria. But it was this campaign that prompted the need for modernization of the aircraft, which designers and manufacturers since last year have been implementing in the version of the Su-34M. In general, this is normal practice: almost all the nomenclature of equipment and weapons delivered to the army and navy - from machine guns and tanks to ballistic missiles and nuclear submarines - is constantly being modernized. Accordingly, their combat characteristics are improved: power, range, security, etc.
As for the Su-34, the need for its improvement has been spoken about before. Back in the winter of 2018, during a visit to the V.P. Chkalov Novosibirsk Aircraft Plant, where bombers are assembled, Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu asked that the changes made to the aircraft design based on the results of its use in Syria be introduced into production as quickly as possible. Yuri Borisov, who was then deputy minister of defense, (now he is deputy prime minister of the Russian government) said that the capabilities of the Su-34 were far from open and emphasized that the bomber had great potential for modernization.
Feeling the demand and knowing about the great modernization potential of the Su-34, the designers began to work out in advance the options for adapting new aviation weapons to the bomber and equipping the aircraft with new electronic warfare and defense systems.
Although, strictly speaking, the funds currently on the “thirty-fourth” are also very effective. It is, first of all, about the Kh-38 and X-59MK2 guided air-to-surface missiles, air-to-air missiles and the KAB-500 and KAB-1500 adjustable bombs. And also - about the on-board electronic warfare station "Khibiny". As has already been proven more than once in practice, it reliably suppresses other people's radars and skillfully disorients enemy anti-aircraft missiles.
Among other advantages, the Su-34 is called a long range - up to 4000 km and a high flight speed - up to 1900 km / h. And also a solid combat load, which on this plane reaches eight tons.
