Tunisia has begun receiving the surplus-US Army Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior scout and light attack helicopters it ordered in 2016, the AFP reported on 4 February.

Six of the 24 helicopters approved by the US government in May 2016 have now arrived in the North African country for counter-terrorism operations, with the remaining 18 scheduled to be delivered by the end of March.

The sale, which was announced by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on 3 May 2016 covers 24 helicopters via the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) programme; Lockheed Martin AGM-114R Hellfire air-to-surface missiles; BAE Systems Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS); Dillon M134D 7.62 mm Gatling guns; FN Herstal M3P 12.7 mm machine guns; and M260 70 mm rocket launchers.
