General Electric's (NYSE: GE) aviation business has secured a potential $394.1M contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to provide J85 engine-related supplies to the U.S. Navy and Air Force.
The sole-source firm-fixed-price contract has a base period of five and a half years, followed by a four-and-a-half-year option period, the Department of Defense said Friday.
J-85 turbo jet engines power the Air Force's T-38 supersonic jet trainer and the Navy's F-5 tactical fighter and attack aircraft, according to the service branches.
Contract work will occur in Massachusetts and is initially scheduled to conclude by Nov. 30, 2025.
