"The Corvette of the Baltic Fleet" Stoyky "and the tanker" Kola ", performing the tasks of a long-range cruise, have completed the passage of the Suez Canal," the press service of the Russian Baltic Fleet said.

The Steadfast and Cola are on their way to a naval base in the Syrian port of Tartus for resupply, the military said.

On March 25, it was reported that the Russian corvette Stoyky and its accompanying tanker Cola could not enter the Suez Canal from the Red Sea due to the gigantic container ship Ever Given, which had run aground.

Ever Given with a displacement of 200 thousand tons, under the flag of Panama, on March 23, ran aground, completely blocked traffic in the south of the Suez Canal.

On March 30, traffic on the canal was resumed.

In March, "Stoyky" and "Kola" entered the port of Sudan, where a Russian naval base on the Red Sea is being created.

In March, the Steadfast was on anti-piracy vigil in the Gulf of Aden.

On February 15 and 16, the Stoyky corvette and the Kola tanker took part in a joint Russian-Iranian naval exercise in the Gulf of Oman and the northwestern Indian Ocean.

Corvette "Stoyky" is the third serial ship of Project 20380. Corvettes of Project 20380 have a displacement of 2,000 tons, a length of over 100 meters, a maximum speed of up to 27 knots, and an autonomous navigation range of 4,000 miles.

The ships of the project 20380 are armed with 100-mm universal artillery systems, anti-aircraft missile-artillery systems, and anti-ship missiles. The ship's air group includes one Ka-27PL helicopter. These ships are designed to combat enemy surface ships and submarines, and provide artillery support for amphibious assault forces. Stealth technology was used in the construction of the ships of the project.

A detachment of ships of the Baltic Fleet consisting of the Stoyky corvette, the Kola medium tanker and the Yakov Grebelsky sea tug left Baltiysk on a long voyage on December 16, 2020.
