Silkin noted that such indicators were achieved through the use of technology for forming aircraft glazing from sheet monolithic polycarbonate, as well as through magnetron deposition of special multifunctional coatings based on gold and indium-tin alloy.

Several key requirements are imposed on modern glazing of military aircraft, among which, in addition to high strength, are optical transparency, high light transmission, anti-glare properties that increase the sighting range, protection against the effects of solar and other types of radiation, anti-icing properties that provide uniform electrical resistivity. All this is achieved by applying various coatings by aerosol, vacuum or magnetron method. Powerful and sophisticated equipment that evaporates the metal and deposits it on the glass surface allows the application of any coatings, including those that reduce the aircraft's radar signature.

Earlier, the site "Aviation of Russia" said that the Scientific Research Institute of Technical Glass (NITS) has developed new technologies for the manufacture of glazing of the cabins of military and civil aircraft from silicate glass. Such products are lighter and more durable than if they were made from previously used organic materials.
