An aviation regiment in the Krasnoyarsk Territory received five MiG-31BM supersonic fighter-interceptors after undergoing modernization and repair. This was reported by the press service of the Central Military District.

In the course of factory overhaul and modernization, the avionics and electronic systems of aircraft were updated, the tactical characteristics of the interceptors were improved, which increased their combat capabilities.

JSC Russian Avionics has developed a fundamentally new layout of both cabins for the MiG-31BM. The main drawback of the previous layout was the pilot's lack of information about the tactical situation: the commander did not know what the navigator was doing. Now in the front cockpit, on the right side of the dashboard, there is a 6 × 8-inch multifunctional LCD indicator (similar to that used on the MiG-29SMT). The cockpit of the navigator-operator has undergone more significant changes, in which there are three such indicators, which can display the most diverse information: tactical, navigation, radar, images from TV cameras of controlled weapons. The aircraft also received an indicator on the windshield, which replaced the previous sighting and aerobatic indicator.

The planes have already flown to the home base and will soon take up combat duty to protect the airspace in the zone of responsibility.

The supersonic MiG-31 is the only fighter in the history of the Soviet and Russian Air Force, officially referred to as an "airship". Designed to intercept and destroy targets, including cruise and ballistic missiles, at extremely low, medium and high altitudes, in simple and difficult weather conditions.
