In 2015, it became known about the decision to resume production of Tu-160 bombers in the modernized version of Tu-160M2. In January 2019, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Russian Armed Forces will receive four new Tu-160M2 strategic bombers by 2023.
Tu-160M2 is a completely new machine with tactical and technical characteristics, which are unmatched in the world in almost all respects and are not yet expected in the foreseeable future.
