The Chinese Chengdu J-20 fighter and the Russian Su-57 are highly maneuverable and could become the main rivals in battle, experts from the EurasianTimes say . Both fifth-generation stealth fighters have a number of common advantages, because their development in both China and Russia was a continuation of the development of fourth-generation fighters, which did not have technologies for reducing radar signature.

The characteristics of these combat aircraft are still kept secret, even despite the fact that many states are very interested in them. Moscow and Beijing decided not to reveal the potential of their developments.

If these two fighters meet in air combat, then the Russian combat vehicle will be able to outrun the Chinese opponent in kinematic parameters. They determine the movement of the aircraft, and the Su-57 is unmatched in this area. It boasts 3D thrust vectoring capability, which means it will have excellent maneuverability at low speeds with a large angle of attack.

Even NPO Saturn's AL-41F-1 turbojet engines, which are designed to create a thrust of 14,750 kilogram-force each, will not interfere with this. Also, these engines will provide the Russian Su-57 with excellent speed. When the fighter receives the NPO Saturn's Phase 30 engines, it will also be able to compete with the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor (in super-maneuverability and supersonic cruising).

When China was developing its Chengdu J-20, engineers relied heavily on Russian and Western designs. That is why many of the design elements of Chinese fighters resemble designs from other countries.

Su-57 successfully passed the final exam in combat conditions. In November 2018, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published footage of the work of promising aviation systems in Syria. During the flight tests, the newest Russian stealth aircraft borrowed its engine from its predecessor, the Su-35 multipurpose and super-maneuverable fighter. When launched into mass production, the Su-57 will roll off the assembly line with a different engine made specifically for this model.

It is known to be a fifth generation engine, mysteriously referred to as "product 30". The jet unit is controlled by automation, which will greatly simplify the work of the pilot. In addition, its design makes the aircraft less visible to radar and infrared surveillance systems.

The Su-57 has another significant advantage over the American F-35 - an airborne radar station (radar). It allows the pilot to assess the situation in the area around his aircraft. In addition, the fighter has a “co-pilot” function, which makes it easier for the pilot to control the aircraft and allows him to focus on the target.

The multifunctional Su-57 fighter will be able to destroy all types of air targets in close and long-range battles, as well as strike enemy ground and surface targets. The fighter is able to overcome air defense systems and monitor the airspace at a great distance from the base.
