MOSCOW, September 7 - RIA Novosti. Holding " Highly complex " Corporation " Rostec " considering the possibility of creating a light wheeled amphibious tank with a 125 mm gun, told RIA Novosti deputy chief designer of the Volgograd Tractor Plant (KMZ composed part of "Highly complex"), Vladimir Buda.

"We have an idea to put the Sprut-SDM1 fighting compartment on a wheelbase, which is likely to be floating. Which wheelbase we will install the module on is an open question, since today there are many successful wheeled chassis in the Russian Federation, and it all depends on the final purpose of the wheeled tank, on which troops it will have to go to, "he said.

As the deputy chief designer specified, "it is assumed that the wheeled Sprut will be export-oriented." Budayev explained that the use of a wheeled tank is less likely in the Armed Forces, since priority is traditionally given to tracked chassis, taking into account the peculiarities of Russian geography.

"Wheeled tanks" is the unofficial name for a family of armored combat vehicles on a wheelbase, armed with tank-caliber cannons, which are installed in a rotating turret. Usually, they have poor protection compared to tanks, but these combat vehicles have significantly greater mobility when used on general roads. They are also generally transportable by air.

Wheeled tanks, for example, include French armored vehicles AMX-10RC, Italian Centauro or Japanese MCV. All of them are equipped with 105 mm guns in production versions.

Self-propelled anti-tank gun "Sprut-SDM1" on a tracked chassis was developed and created by PJSC "Kurganmashzavod" (part of the "High-precision complexes"). The Octopus is armed with a 125-millimeter artillery-missile system, can be transported by ships and planes, and can be dropped by landing and parachute methods. "Sprut" develops speed on the highway at 70 km / h, afloat - up to 9 km / h. Now the combat vehicle is undergoing state tests.
