"Admiralty Shipyards" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) began the second stage of factory sea trials of the submarine project 677 "Kronstadt".
As part of the second stage of tests, which will also take place in the ranges of the Gulf of Finland, submarine dives will be made, checking the ship’s systems. At the first stage, which ended at the end of December 2021, the company's specialists and the crew of the Russian Navy successfully conducted high-speed and maneuverable tests of the submarine, carried out the signage and heeling of the submarine, checked the sonar system, navigation and communication systems, and tested lifting and mast devices.
Admiralty Shipyards is building the Kronstadt submarine according to the adjusted project, based on the results of the pilot operation of the lead ship. The ships upgraded the control system of ship technical means, the system of electric propulsion, navigation system.
In early 2022, the company began cutting metal on the fourth and fifth submarines of the 677 project. The state contract for their construction was concluded between the Admiralty Shipyards and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in June 2019 within the framework of the Army-2019 Forum.
Project 677 submarines belong to the fourth generation of non-nuclear submarines and today are recognized as the most modern and promising domestic non-nuclear submarines, both in terms of combat effectiveness and other tactical and technical characteristics. Admiralty Shipyards is the only shipbuilding plant of this class.
