Rostov Region, July 3, 2020. DON24.RU. The latest Mi-28NM combat helicopter manufactured in Rostov is undergoing state tests. Colonel General Sergey Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, told about this in an interview with Red Star.

The Mi-28NM attack helicopter is an improved version of the Mi-28N Night Hunter helicopter, which has proven itself in the military. In its combat capabilities, the new machine significantly exceeds the base model. This is indicated by the abbreviation in its name - NM (nightly modernized).

Thanks to more advanced radar systems and electronic systems, he is able to conduct aerial reconnaissance and destroy ground and air targets. Moreover, he can do this not only at the forefront, but also in the tactical depth of enemy defense, day and night, in simple and difficult weather conditions.

The new helicopter is a formidable weapon against tanks, the main striking force of modern armies. And not only tanks. Mi-28NM can suppress the work of radar stations directing missiles at our troops, destroy missile launchers.

It is also intended for the elimination of firing points such as pillbox and bunker, small-sized ground and surface objects. The new machine can successfully deal with helicopters and low-flying air targets such as drones. In his arsenal - weapons for the destruction of railway stations and trains, bridges and crossings, accumulations of equipment, runways. Not to mention the fact that the “Night Hunter” is effective in combating unarmored vehicles and enemy manpower.

He mentioned the commander in chief about the special capabilities of the helicopter. So, thanks to the helmet with laser guidance on the target, which are equipped with the pilots of these machines, you can even find hidden enemy targets at night and direct fire at them with rocket and rocket artillery.

“The Mi-28NM helicopter provides air support to the ground forces on the battlefield, target designation and laser illumination of targets for artillery, as well as training and improving the flight training of the helicopter’s crew,” said Sergey Surovikin.

Several Mi-28NMs have already been baptized in Syria . The capabilities of new machines in real combat are now being carefully studied by specialists.

According to Rostec, by order of the Ministry of Defense, a plant in Rostov is preparing to release about a hundred such aircraft.
