A new series of robotic ships will be built for the Russian Navy

Moscow, July 19. The Russian Ministry of Defense is considering the issue of purchasing additional patrol ships of Project 22160 "Vasily Bykov".

Ships of project 22160 are highly automated and can carry robots on board. The vessels are made on a modular basis, which allows them to be equipped with various weapon systems. In the navy, ships are called robotic ships, the Izvestia newspaper reports .

A new batch of Bykovs will be built according to a revised project. In the future, the ships of the project 22160 will become the basis for the groups protecting the coastal waters of Russia.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Ministry of Defense will strengthen the Baltic Fleet with diesel submarines of project 0636.3. They will be built according to an improved design.
