The Kerch shipyard "Zaliv" launched the patrol ship "Sergei Kotov". He will serve in the Black Sea Fleet, Kryminform reported .
“Each launching of a ship causes huge positive emotions: both the fact that this is generally being done for the defense capability of our country, and that this is being done in Crimea, and the fact that the ship is named after such a wonderful person - Hero of the Soviet Union Sergei Nikolayevich Kotov. The man who fought in the Black Sea Fleet was liberating Crimea, ”said the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov.
First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Alexander Vitko was present at the ceremony of launching the ship. “I am sure that the fate of the ship will turn out and will be successful - it cannot be different. You have put your knowledge, skills, your Crimean soul into this ship, and therefore it will worthily defend our Motherland, ”he addressed the plant's staff.
"Sergey Kotov" is a patrol ship of project 22160. These vessels have a displacement of up to 1.7 thousand tons, can stay in the far sea zone for up to 60 days, can reach speeds of over 25 knots, and can accommodate up to 60 crew members. The ship is equipped with radio-technical and hydroacoustic weapons, electronic countermeasures, and provides for the basing of a 12-ton helicopter.
Three ships of Project 22160 are already serving in the Black Sea Fleet - Vasily Bykov, Dmitry Rogachev and Pavel Derzhavin.
Sergei Kotov, after whom the ship is named, is a Hero of the Soviet Union, Rear Admiral. He fought the Great Patriotic War in the Black Sea Fleet.
