S-400 and S-500 systems will be able to shoot down US hypersonic missiles

MOSCOW, (BM) – RT Channel conducted a survey among military experts who suggested that counter-hypersonic capabilities would soon appear in the modified version of the S-400 Triumph air defense system, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

Director of the Air Defense Museum in Balashikha, Yuri Knutov, believes that in addition to the S-400, the S-500 systems will also receive such an opportunity, as well as with a higher degree of probability, the modernized self-propelled laser system Peresvet.

The similar opinion is shared by Dmitry Kornev, founder of the MilitaryRussia portal, who believes that in the process of modernization counter-hypersonic capabilities will appear in other types of weapons that are created on new physical principles and use directed energy.

According to Kornev, the development of the S-500 air defense system initially laid down the possibility of defeating US and other foreign hypersonic targets. The expert is sure that with a certain refinement, the S-400 and Buk-M3 will also be able to hit hypersonic devices, and in the future, laser and microwave weapons will have the same properties.

The military expert noted that the interception of hypersonic devices is a complex task, which requires powerful radar stations, digital signal processing systems, high-speed missiles, as well as a high-quality false-screening system.

According to experts, the Russian army is already armed with tools that can detect and hit individual hypersonic targets. In this case, we are talking about the Opponent-GE radar and missile defense from the arsenal of the Moscow A-135 missile defense system.
