Moscow. July 31st. INTERFAX - A Su-35 fighter crashed during an exercise in the Khabarovsk Territory, the press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO) reported.
"On July 31, in the Khabarovsk Territory, during scheduled training flights, an engine failure occurred on a Su-35S aircraft. According to preliminary data, the aircraft crashed in the Sea of Okhotsk," the press service said.
"The pilot ejected, was promptly found by the search group and taken to the airfield. There is no threat to the pilot's health," the headquarters of the Air Defense Forces said.
They noted that the investigation of the incident is being carried out by a commission of the Eastern Military District.
The Su-35 is a super-maneuverable multi-functional fighter of the 4 ++ generation. It was developed by the Sukhoi company (part of the UAC) and is mass-produced at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant (KnAAZ). The aircraft was created on the basis of the Su-27 / Su-30, but at the same time it is a conceptually new aircraft with elements of the equipment of the fifth generation fighter.
The Su-35 is equipped with an airborne radar station with a passive phased antenna array, as well as engines with a controlled thrust vector. It can reach speeds of up to 2.5 thousand km / h, its flight range reaches 3.4 thousand km. The fighter is armed with a 30 mm cannon and has 12 attachment points for bombs and missiles.
