Argentine observers are studying the Russian MiG-35 aircraft, which Buenos Aires is considering as a possible option for replenishing the fleet of supersonic fighters. According to the author, Russia tried to enter the Argentine military aviation market along with China, which offered to buy the Chengdu JF-17 Block III Thunder aircraft [this is the Pakistani designation of the model; apparently still FC-1].
"The available information, according to sources that are involved in the [Air Force Upgrade] program, indicate that both procurement and operating costs will be double the Chinese model, largely due to the fact that the MiG-35 is larger and has best flight characteristics
- says the Argentinean edition of Pucará Defensa.
As explained, in comparison with the MiG-29, the new aircraft has 8% more thrust and 45% more fuel placed in the internal compartments.
"This made it possible to deprive the new machine of the main drawback of the previous fighter - its short range.
Multipurpose radar allows you to track various targets, including ground targets. The fighter can carry all types of airborne Russian tactical weapons currently in use , for example, four Kh-31A / P supersonic anti-ship missiles, four Kh-35 subsonic anti-ship missiles or four adjustable bombs. He has also been seen carrying new X-38M and Thunder ammunition. Air-to-air weapon options include up to 4 long-range R-37Ms, up to 6 R-77 medium-range missiles, or up to 8 R-73 / R-74M short-range missiles.
The single and double versions have an almost identical fuselage. The differences are: the single-seat version has a 630-liter fuel tank instead of a rear seat.
