Moscow. August 17th. INTERFAX-AVN - Rostec is setting up a commission to investigate the accident of an experienced military transport aircraft Il-112V, a representative of the state corporation told Interfax.

"An internal commission is being created with the involvement of specialists from aircraft research institutes and factories to investigate the causes of the accident of the Il-112V aircraft, which crashed today during a training flight in Kubinka near Moscow," Rostec said.

They recalled that the aircraft is an experimental one and is undergoing testing.

"There was a routine training flight. There is no other information yet," the agency's source said.

There were three crew members on board the Il-112V, the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) reported.

The ignition of the right engine preceded the crash of the Il-112V, as follows from the video of the moment of the crash published on social networks.

The footage shows that the right engine of the flying plane caught fire, after which the board began to roll to the right, entered a steep dive and collapsed in the forest.

On August 13, a prototype of the new Il-112V light military transport aircraft, which continues preliminary tests, flew to the Moscow region to participate in the Army-2021 forum.

"The first sample of the new Il-112V light military transport aircraft on August 13 flew from the airfield of the Voronezh Aviation Plant (VASO, part of the UAC transport division of the Rostec state corporation) to the IL-PJSC base in Zhukovsky near Moscow to prepare for participation in the VII International military-technical forum "Army-2021", - said the press service of the UAC.  The international military-technical forum "Army-2021" will be held on August 22-28 in Kubinka near Moscow.

Il-112V is the first military transport aircraft developed in Russia "from scratch" in the post-Soviet period. It should replace the aging fleet of An-24 and An-26. The Il-112V is intended for transportation and airborne landing of up to 5 tons of light weapons, military equipment, cargo and personnel.

The first flight of the Il-112V prototype took place on March 30, 2019, but at that time the aircraft did not meet the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Defense in terms of carrying capacity, therefore it required revision. In October 2020, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said that the weight of the Il-112V should be reduced by about 2 tons.

Flight tests of the Il-112V resumed only two years later - on March 30, 2021.

Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, when visiting VASO on July 5, said that the new light transport aircraft did not yet meet the technical specifications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. “For the last three years we have been fighting the Il-112. The situation is moving for the better. The car, in principle, turns out to be quite good,” Borisov said.

According to him, on the third aircraft, the plant must ensure the achievement of the characteristics specified by the customer, but so far "you have not fulfilled your obligations to the Ministry of Defense in this regard." "Until you confirm the flight performance of the Il-112, it is pointless to talk about serial contracts," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
