Russian strategic bombers Tu-160M and Tu-95M will be armed with non-nuclear ammunition called "product 506". It is a small, ultra-precise cruise missile capable of hitting targets of almost any complexity from a distance of thousands of kilometers. The author of the development was the Raduga design bureau, which is part of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation (KTRV), Izvestia writes.
As the military expert Dmitry Boltenkov told the publication, the ammunition is most likely locatedin a high degree of readiness. Perhaps he even passed part of the flight tests.
According to the newspaper, the contracts for "product 506" on the government procurement website refer to the use of "product 37P". The 37th product is a family of small-sized by-pass turbojet engines TRDD-50. According to information from open sources, the turbojet engine-50 is used on the Kh-55 and Kh-101 aircraft missiles. "Product 506" will receive a specially modified engine of this family.
As the chief editor of the Militaryrussia Internet project Dmitry Kornev explained, the peculiarity of this engine is that it runs on a different type of fuel. Instead of conventional aviation kerosene, such devices use a mixture of "Decilin" and "Decilin-M", which gives the weapon new characteristics.
This makes it possible to create compact missiles with a long flight range. At the same time, this makes it possible to understand that the ammunition will be subsonic. Most likely, it used stealth technologies, like on the Kh-101/102, to ensure the surprise of the strike and invulnerability to air defense , '' Kornev emphasized.
Earlier it became known about the development in the Russian Federation of an aircraft long-range hypersonic missile X-95. It can become part of the armament of the modernized Tu-22M3M long-range bomber, the modernized Tu-160M strategic bomber and the Advanced Long-Range Aviation Complex (PAK DA).
