The Severodvinsk Production Association
"Sevmash" held a solemn ceremony of removing the project
"Borey-A" from the main nuclear submarine "Prince Vladimir"
from the slipway. This is the first of a series of "Borei",
built on a modernized project.
The event was attended by the commander-in-chief of the
Russian Navy Vladimir Korolev, the general director of the Rubin Central Design
Bureau Igor Vilnit and the governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov.
"The beginning of the construction of the Borey-A
nuclear submarine missile is a proof that the domestic school of underwater
shipbuilding has preserved and develops its best traditions, the foundation of
which is the work and the high responsibility of scientists, designers and
shipbuilders," said Vladimir Korolev.
The crew of the submarine "Prince Vladimir" has
already been formed. The ship's commander, Vladislav Druzhinin, traditionally
broke a bottle of champagne on the side of the missile carrier.
After exiting the boathouse, the nuclear submarine will
be moored to the tanker pool, where it will prepare for sea testing of various
directions.
"This event is the first date at the stage of
preparation of the ship for the final stage - the transfer of the submarine to
the Navy, which we plan to celebrate in 2018," Vladimir Korolev said.
According to him, today 88% of ships in the fleet were
ill - modern ones.
"This speaks of the enormous potential of
shipbuilding." Ahead of us, "Borey B" and the development of a
missile carrier of the fifth generation, this is a forward movement, "said
Vladimir Korolev.
After the successful completion of the sea trials, the
"Prince Vladimir" nuclear powered vessel will be transferred to the
Russian Navy. Earlier it was planned that this will be done before the end of
2017. But, it is possible that the deadline will be postponed.
Recall, the submarine "Prince Vladimir" is
built on the modernized project 955U "Borey-A" and is the main boat
in the series. The developer was CDB MT "Rubin". The missile carrier
was laid in Severodvinsk in 2012, at the ceremony was attended by Russian
President Vladimir Putin. It was he who attached the board to the section of
the hull of the future submarine and held a meeting devoted to the implementation
of the state arms program. At this meeting, it was announced that the main
strategic nuclear naval shield of Russia would be the nuclear ships of the two
series "Borey" and "Ash".
According to the State Arms Program, up to 2020 Sevmash
plans to build eight Borey class submarines. Three of them have already been
transferred to the fleet, the following should be the missile carrier Prince
Vladimir. Another four ships are being built at the Severodvinsk shipyard. The
last nuclear ship of this series, "Prince Pozharsky" was laid in
December 2016.
Also on Sevmash is the construction of six submarines of
the project "Ash" and "Ash-M". The head ship of this series
Severodvinsk has been serving in the Northern Fleet since 2014, the rest are in
different stages of readiness. In July 2017, another ship of this series,
Ulyanovsk, was laid. It is planned that it will be transferred to the fleet in
2023.
