Sevmash (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) will build two more nuclear submarine cruisers of the Borey-A project. The ships will be named Dmitry Donskoy and Prince Potemkin, said Mikhail Budnichenko, general director of the enterprise.

Budnichenko in an interview with Zavod magazine said that Sevmash will build two more nuclear submarine cruisers of the Borey-A project. The ships will be named "Dmitry Donskoy" and "Prince Potemkin". The contract for their construction was signed in 2020.

He specified that four nuclear submarines of the Borey-A project are currently at the shipyard in varying degrees of readiness. One of the nuclear-powered ships - "Prince Oleg", which was removed from the boathouse in July 2020. Now it is undergoing completion and factory tests at one of the Sevmash embankments. A submarine of the Yasen-M project - Voronezh and Vladivostok is also under construction on the slipway.

Vladivostok and Voronezh are ships with hypersonic weapons, which are followed by the further development of the submarine fleet. Today Sevmash is building eight nuclear-powered submarine cruisers of this project, ”Budnichenko explained.

He recalled that the construction of the Khabarovsk submarine continues, tests of the Belgorod nuclear submarine are underway, and work is underway to create a modern dock complex.

“A serious front of work has been launched to repair and modernize the cruiser“ Admiral Nakhimov ”. After modernization, it will become the flagship of the Russian Navy, ”he said.

According to him, contracts for military-technical cooperation are being fulfilled: for the maintenance of the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier (Indian Navy), as well as for the maintenance of fourth-generation nuclear submarines at the base of the ships.

“Sevmash's portfolio of orders also includes civil orders: stable work is underway to manufacture structures for the support base of the ice-resistant stationary platform“ A ”, - added Budnichenko.

In December, it was reported that the main command of the Russian Navy plans to introduce seven Antey nuclear submarines (nuclear submarines) of projects 949A and 949AM into the submarine forces of the Northern and Pacific fleets by the end of 2023.
