Young pilots of a separate mixed aviation regiment of the Northern Fleet began preparations for the first flights on MiG-31BM fighter-interceptors. Exercises with combat duty to protect the state border of Russia will be held on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, reports "Regnum".

According to the official statement of the RF Ministry of Defense, young lieutenants have begun a consistent mastering of piloting, which is supervised by experienced pilots from the ranks of the mixed air regiment of the Troops and Forces in the North-East of Russia. It is known that earlier the cadets had already completed full-fledged training at the State Aviation Personnel Training Center in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and in Kamchatka they had completed a training course on an aviation simulator.

“The intensity of the combat training of fighter pilots, which has increased in recent years, allows young officers to join the ranks in the shortest possible time. The pilots will undergo training in various weather conditions on MiG-31BM interceptor fighters, ”the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Also on Novaya Zemlya, an anti-aircraft missile regiment of the air defense unit of the 45th Army of the Air Force and the Air Defense of the Northern Fleet, which is armed with the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system, is already on duty around the clock.
