There are no analogues to the Terminator yet

The South Ural tank crews of the Central Military District are mastering a promising weapon for the Ground Forces - a tank support combat vehicle.

According to the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, in the 2020 academic year, the fleet of military vehicles for various purposes of the Central Military District was replenished with more than 800 units of the latest and modernized weapons. Among them, for the first time, within the framework of trial operation, a batch of eight Terminator-2 BMPT tank support combat vehicles entered the South Ural tank formation.

BMPT "Terminator-2" is a unique mechanized model of military equipment, which today has no equal in any foreign army in carrying armor, all-aspect protection, means of search and detection of targets, combined with the combat power of onboard multi-channel weapons with increased ammunition.

The tank support combat vehicle is produced at the technical facilities of the famous Uralvagonzavod. The machine was developed by design engineers of the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering with the task of countering modern threats and can be successfully used in conditions of conflicts of any tension. BMPT - the first representative of a new type of military tracked vehicles.

The BMPT fully justifies its technical name. Terminator-2 possesses a complex of multichannel automatic weapons, consisting of two 30-mm automatic cannons and a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun paired with them, two

30-mm AG-17D automatic grenade launchers and two launchers with a set of supersonic guided anti-tank missiles "Attack-T".

At the same time, the fire control system of the main armament of a combat vehicle makes it possible to recognize small targets on the battlefield at long ranges during the day and at night in adverse weather conditions. The placement of remotely controlled weapons (automatic cannons, coaxial machine guns, guided missiles, automatic grenade launchers) outside the habitable compartments ensures a decrease in gas pollution and more comfortable working conditions for the crew.

By the way, about the crew. It consists of five people: the commander of a combat vehicle, a gunner-operator, two gunner-operators of course automatic grenade launchers and a driver-mechanic. The simultaneous presence of three operators in the BMPT contributes to the rapid detection and simultaneous destruction of several different targets in the 360-degree sector. Onboard ammunition for automatic weapons is approximately twice as large as that of modern armored vehicles of the BMP type.

However, despite the outwardly massive volume and a fair amount of "payload", the tank support combat vehicle, having a chassis from the T-90A tank, turned out to be highly mobile and maneuverable. Which, in fact, is not surprising, because the iron heart of the BMPT "Terminator-2" is a supercharged diesel engine with a total capacity of 1000 hp. It allows the BMPT to carry out combat support both as part of tank and motorized rifle units.

According to the basic concept, the BMPT operates in a mixed composition of tank units, detects and destroys any targets that pose a threat to tanks. The developer of the combat vehicle guarantees that the Terminator can easily remove everything from the path of attack: from opposing grenade launchers and lightly armored vehicles to armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and tanks.

Large angles of aiming automatic cannons are capable of hitting targets both on the upper floors of buildings and firing at low-flying aerial reconnaissance and combat targets. At the same time, the protection of BMPTs at the level of modern domestic tanks is provided by dynamic protection, anti-cumulative and anti-fragmentation screens and additional protection in soft covers (for urban conditions).

The first "flashing" of the combat characteristics of the BMPT "Terminator-2" in the field occurred quite recently - during the September strategic command-staff exercise "Kavkaz-2020".
