Philippine awards contract to equip José Rizal class with anti-air missiles | Jane's 360: José Rizal-class frigates

The Philippine Department of National Defense (DND) has awarded an EUR10.6 million (USD12 million) contract to MBDA France for surface-to-air missiles.

The contract has been awarded pursuant to the Philippine Navy’s Frigate Acquisition Project Lot 2B (Missiles and Munition) programme, and seeks to equip the José Rizal class with short-range defences against small surface threats, hostile aircraft, and precision-guided munitions.

The Philippine Navy is currently anticipating the delivery of two José Rizal-class frigates from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
