Specialists of the electronic warfare forces of the combined arms army of the Western Military District for the first time showed the operation of the Palantin-K complex

Specialists of the electronic warfare troops of the Guards Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District demonstrated the capabilities of the Palantin-K complex as part of the exercises at the Luzhsky training ground in the  Leningrad Region in the fight against “enemy” unmanned aerial vehicles.

Settlements of the complex were deployed by the station as part of a large-scale tank exercise and a control check for the summer training period. The complex was deployed from the march in the shortest 30 minutes and set to work on detecting, tracking, blocking and suppressing communication channels.

During the exercise, the complex’s calculations determined the location, type of signal of unmanned enemy aircraft and calculated the location of the quadcopter operator with an explosive object.

In total, over 150 units of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as about 600 military personnel of the Guards Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District, were involved in the verification check by the electronic warfare units and tank battalions.

The Palantin-K complex, the first in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, was put into service with the Guards Combined Arms Army ZVO in 2019 and is designed to suppress existing and promising enemy radio communication systems, as well as to conduct electronic reconnaissance.

The capabilities of the equipment make it possible to blind the enemy in the short-wave and ultra-short-wave ranges, as well as to deprive him of cellular and trunking communications. In addition, the complex is endowed with a system-forming function, that is, it is able to combine various electronic warfare systems and electronic intelligence into a single working network, which significantly increases the efficiency of their use.

On September 17, it was reported that the Separate Electronic Warfare Battalion for the exercises near Voronezh first used the latest Palantin complex, using it to cover the interspecific group of forces in southwestern Russia.

A separate battalion of electronic warfare was formed and joined the combined arms army of the Western Military District in July.
