King of Thailand Christens New Frigate – SeaWaves – the BEST naval news since 1995:

October 17, 2019 – Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn ceremonially launched a newly-built navy frigate, named HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej, on Wednesday.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, accompanied by Queen Suthida, presided over the launch ceremony and anointed the navy frigate HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej, named after the late king and father of the current one, at Sattahip naval base in Chonburi province.

The frigate, built by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., was procured for about 480 million U.S. dollars to replace a couple of decommissioned frigates, namely HTMS Phuttha Yodfa Chulalok and HTMS Phuttha Lertla Naphalai.

The 3,700-ton frigate applies stealth technology, deploys 141 sailors on board and can engage in sea surface defense, air defense and anti-submarine warfare.
