Moscow. March 12. INTERFAX-AVN - A batch of serial MiG-35 fighters entered service with the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia, according to the materials of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, published in the departmental newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
According to the posted infographics, according to the state defense order, MiG-35S aircraft (serial) were delivered to the troops.
The materials do not indicate the number of fighters received.
As Interfax reported, in 2018, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract for the supply of six light MiG-35 fighters in single and two-seat (combat training) versions - MiG-35S and MiG-35UB.
According to the agency's source, the Russian Aerospace Forces had already received the first two aircraft under this contract. In addition, two more fighters, manufactured as part of development work, are being tested.
The MiG-35 is considered the most advanced aircraft in the MiG fighter family. It is capable of solving combat missions in the air-to-air, air-to-ground, and air-to-ship spectra. The aircraft can detect and track from 10 to 30 air targets at a distance of up to 160 km, while capturing up to six air and four ground targets simultaneously.
Advanced aircraft weapons are being introduced into the MiG-35 weapons, including long-range weapons that allow attacking targets without entering the air defense (air defense) zones. In January 2017, the head of the UAC, Yuri Slyusar, announced that the MiG-35 could also carry laser weapons.
