The flight duration was more than eight hours
MOSCOW, March 29. / TASS /. Two strategic Russian missile carriers Tu-160 flew over the Barents and Norwegian Seas, accompanied by MiG-31 fighters of the naval aviation of the Russian Navy. This was reported to reporters on Monday at the RF Ministry of Defense.
"Two strategic missile carriers Tu-160 long-range aviation performed a planned flight in airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas. <...> The flight duration was more than eight hours," the military department said.
The ministry said that the fighter escort was provided by the crews of the MiG-31 aircraft of the naval aviation of the Russian Navy.
The military department noted that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Black and Baltic seas, as well as the Pacific Ocean.
"All flights of aircraft of the Aerospace Forces of Russia are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace," the Defense Ministry emphasized.
