As we all know, destroyers have become the standard equipment of all countries' maritime power, and with the development of the times, their build tonnage continues to increase. The US military even has the world’s largest tonnage "strongest destroyer", the DDG-1000 Zumwalt. It is reported that the ship was officially launched in 2013, with an overall length and width of 182.8 meters and 24.1 meters respectively, and a displacement of 14,564 tons. According to the "Washington Naval Treaty" criteria for the classification of heavy cruisers, Zumwalt deserves its name.

It is understood that the destroyer uses the MT-30 gas turbine as the power source, has a maximum cruise speed of 30 knots and a very low noise standard of 110 decibels. From the appearance design, it integrates stealth technology to build a unique ship island and other structures. In terms of weapons, the ship is equipped with a naval gun system with a range of up to 185 kilometers, which has amazing strike power. In addition, the ship is equipped with many anti-submarine equipment such as active and passive bow sonar. It also uses search and positioning systems such as dual-band radar to highlight the performance of advanced information processing.

It is worth noting that due to the immaturity of technology, the US Navy has lost its due interest in the Zumwalt-class destroyer, which has become an extremely failed design case. It is reported that when the ship was approved, the US Navy faced extremely limited pressure, so it formed a development policy of "from sea to land." However, in the past 20 years, with the continuous acceleration of world naval construction, the shortcomings of the Zumwalt class have been continuously exposed, and the original advantage of penetration and strike has been lost.

It is undeniable that the destroyer Zumwalt had technical problems when it first entered service, such as instability in the all-electric propulsion system, and even the extreme phenomenon of short-term power failure. From this point of view, although the construction and design are advanced, the destroyer of this class has no cost-effective advantage, which has become a so-called burden.

In the opinion of experts, the high cost of the U.S. military’s abandonment of the Zumwalt-class destroyer is also a factor that cannot be ignored. For example, the cost of a single ship is as high as US$4.5 billion. Type destroyer. Therefore, the US Navy stopped the production line after the completion of the construction of three Zumwalt destroyers, of which the first two have been in service. At present, with the development of modern warfare in the US Navy, the Jumwalt-class destroyer has gradually disappeared from people's vision.
