The Russian military has tested the so-called "aircraft carrier killer" - the Kh-32 cruise missile. It was fired from the Tu-22M3 long-range missile bomber. The maneuvers were successful, the hits were right on target. In addition, the declared characteristics of missiles were confirmed, which are intended for surface purposes, but can be launched at ground targets.

The Russian military conducted test firing of the new Kh-32 cruise missiles using the Tu-22M3 missile bomber. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a source in the military-industrial complex.

“The re-equipped Tu-22M3 conducted several launches of Kh-32 cruise missiles, which will form the basis of the strike weapons of the modernized Tu-22M3M bomber,” the agency's source said.

According to him, "the shooting took place as part of periodic testing of products at a military range." "The declared combat characteristics of the missiles have been confirmed, the accuracy of the hit is" on the peg "[in the center of the target]", - added a source to RIA Novosti.
He noted that such missiles are designed primarily "to destroy surface targets and are the so-called killer of aircraft carriers, since the modern air defense of aircraft carrier groups has a low probability of intercepting such targets."

According to him, the Russian cruise missile can highly efficiently destroy ground objects, including radar stations.

The interlocutor recalled that a series of launches took place last year. Those test firing was needed to confirm the characteristics of the serial Kh-32 and to prepare for testing these cruise missiles from the new Tu-22M3M bombers. In addition, during last year's launches, the specialists performed certain experimental research tasks.

This air-launched missile was adopted by the Armed Forces in 2016. The modernized Tu-22M3M should become a standard ammunition carrier, two prototypes are undergoing flight tests.

The Kh-32 was developed by Russian specialists to replace the Kh-22 missiles, which are carried by the Tu-22M3 aircraft in service. The Kh-32 retains its predecessor's airframe, but slightly modified. In all other respects, as noted by RIA Novosti, this is an absolutely new product.

For example, the new rocket is equipped with an upgraded liquid-propellant rocket engine with increased thrust, digital radio-electronic equipment, including an on-board digital computer complex, an anti-jamming active-passive radar station and its own electronic countermeasures systems, the agency writes.

In this case, the rocket can reach a maximum speed close to hypersonic. The Kh-32 flight altitude can reach over 30 km. Range of application - 1000 km.
In turn, the Tu-22M3M missile carrier is a deeply modernized version of the Tu-22M3. He has modern digital radio-electronic equipment. In particular, it has a new sighting and navigation system, avionics, communication systems, a fundamentally new radar station and electronic warfare systems, RIA Novosti notes.

This equipment significantly increases its combat potential, noted earlier in PJSC "Tupolev". In turn, the new guided missile and bomb weapons in an expanded composition increase the combat effectiveness of the missile carrier.

The first flight of the first prototype of the Tu-22M3M took place on December 28, 2018, the agency recalls, noting that the second prototype of the new bomber was connected to flight tests in March last year.

How the capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces increased in 2020, said the head of the Russian Defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu .

“All tasks set for 2020 have been completed by the armed forces. Their combat capabilities have increased by 13%. The specified level of maintaining the country's defense capability has been ensured, ”he said. In 2020, the Russian army received more than 250 thousand weapons and means of destruction for them.

He also noted that the department has completed the development of a defense plan for the Russian Federation for 2021-2025.
