Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has landed a $171M contract to produce Lot 7 AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile at full rate for the U.S. Navy and foreign military customers in Italy and Australia.

The supersonic missile system features real-time electronic situational awareness to guard against surface-to-air threats, and currently works to operate with FA-18C/D Hornet, FA-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft, the company said Tuesday.

The Navy and the Italian air force are pursuing an international cooperative major acquisition program for the AARGM, which has already undergone testing with Italy’s Tornado electronic combat and reconnaissance aircraft.

These recent tests verified the AARGM’s operational viability with the aircraft and green lights the missile’s implementation across Italy’s air force squadrons, the company said.
