NEW DELHI, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- India, along with Russia,
is developing a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with a strike range of 800
km, defense sources said Saturday.
"The missile range was increased from 290 km to 450
km last year and now it is being raised to 800 km. The testfiring of the
missile is likely to take place by this yearend only," sources said.
The land and sea variants of BrahMos missile are already
operational with the Indian Army and the Indian Navy. In November last year,
India successfully testfired the air version.
India on Thursday testfired nuclear-capable,
surface-to-surface Agni V ballistic missile.
Agni V is the most advanced missile in Agni series with a
strike range of over 5,000 km.
