Sam146 engines plans to install at Be-200 amphibious aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2020

The installation of the SaM146 engines on the Be-200 amphibious aircraft instead of the currently used Ukrainian D-436 is planned in the second half of 2020. This was announced by General Director of the United Engine-Building Corporation (UEC) Alexander Artyukhov at International Forum of Engine Building (MFD-2018).

According to him, SaM146 will be installed on the Be-200 amphibious aircraft with a completely new nacelle, because of "another engine attachment".

"The engine is above the wing of the aircraft - therefore, there it will be necessary to conduct a large design volume, in the first place, this determines the time," he said.

Earlier, the media quoted Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov as saying that Ukraine had banned the supply of D-436 engines and their modifications to the Russian Federation, which are installed on An-148 and Be-200 aircraft.

SaM146 Optimized Architecture

SaM146 engine

Safran Aircraft Engines developed and produces the SaM146 engine for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet through PowerJet, a 50/50 joint company with Russian engine-maker UEC Saturn. Right from the time it entered revenue service, the SaM146 clearly demonstrated its adaptability to all operating environments, and excellent dispatch reliability despite its intensive use.
An integrated propulsion system

PowerJet supplies an optimized integrated propulsion system, comprising the engine and its accessories, plus the nacelle and thrust reverser from Aircelle, also a Safran company. Through PowerJet, Safran Aircraft Engines is responsible for the design and certification of all versions of the SaM146, the development and production of the engine core, control systems and power transmission, system integration and flight testing.
