“Kalashnikov” company has began the construction of high-speed landing boats BK-16 for the National Guard of Russia. The first launch of the boat was held at the shipbuilding yard “Rybinsk shipyard”.
“On March, 12 at the Rybinsk shipyard, a member of the group of companies “Kalashnikov”, held a ceremony for the launch of the high-speed transport boat BK-16 for the Federal Service troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation,” – said the Kalashnikov a statement.
The boat has the ability to move at high speed, has a large landing compartment, and can come directly on to the shore with subsequent landing of fighters.
“Depending on the wishes of the customer, we can supply the equipment in various configurations for the solution of specific military tasks,” – said general director of Rybinsk shipyard, Sergei Antonov.
Lieutenant-General Sergei Mileyko, Deputy Director of the National Guard, attended the ceremony. He congratulated the management and shipyard workers on this event and wished them success in carrying out this order.
“Servicemen and employees are at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and crime, so one of the priority tasks is to equip them with the best weapons, protective equipment. It is very important that we rely on domestic producers and developers. Today, we are laying the first boat from a series of vessels designed to perform special tasks in the sphere of the National Guard’s activities.”
The boats are designed for operations in coastal zones, transportation of personnel, landing on unequipped coasts, medical evacuation, rendering assistance to those in distress in remote areas, combating piracy and terrorism.
